The INSECTUM project starts with its first meeting

The INSECTUM project has already been launched with a meeting in Madrid the last May 17. Representatives of the 6 partners attended the reunion: Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC), Tradichem, Bioento, Fertinagro, Dibaq and Polysistec.
This meeting, which took place in the FCC headquarters, was useful for a first contact between the members of the consortium of the Project. In addition, it was established in the reunion the work basis and the calendar of future meetings to go forward on the subject. The research centers that collaborate in the project (LEITAT, Tecnalia, Ctaqua, CETIM, UNIZAR and VISAVET) also participated in this conference.

The main objective of the consortium is the gainful use of urban by-products and bio-waste through bioconversion with insects for the generation of innovative products in strategic sectors.

The Polysistec role in INSECTUM project is to increase the value of insect biomass for obtaining biodegradable substances which can be used in textile industry. In addition to establish the optimal value chains according to type of waste and species of insect.

The INSECTUM project is financed by the “Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial” (CDTI), within the framework of CIEN program 2018 (Consorcios de Investigación Empresarial Nacional).
